Anneke Honor
Anneke Honor is German-American Contralto/Mezzo Soprano residing in New York City. Ms Honor has an extensive repertoire that has spanned performances across the United States and Germany. Her roles encompass a diverse range, from Dido and The First Witch in "Dido and Aeneas" to Zita in "Gianni Schicchi," Sister Mathilde in "Dialogues of the Carmelites," and Sorella Cercatrice in "Suor Angelica." Notably, she has graced the stage as a concert soloist, Ms. Honor has performed Stravinsky’s "Les Noces," Orff’s "Carmina Burana," and Handel’s oratorios such as "The Messiah" and "Jephtha." Renowned for her mastery of early music, Ms. Honor has captivated audiences in Germany with her interpretation of masterworks from the early music repertoire. Her performance in Rodelinda was lauded by the Allgemeine Zeitung in Mainz for “Ms. Honors ability to evoke a profound and somber introspection." Moreover, Ms. Honor's versatility extends to contemporary music, where she has originated roles such as Adelgunde in the world premiere of "The Strange Child" with Kamraton New Music Ensemble and the role of Dunya in the world premiere of "Transgression" with Bluegrass Opera in Kentucky. Most recently, she has performed the role of Rossweisse with New York Dramatic Voices and the role of Despina with Bronx Opera.
