Biography

(She/Her) Lily Smith is a 27-year-old French-American soprano. Born in Paris, France, she later moved to the United States and currently resides in Boston, MA. 

In 2025, Lily has already performed recitals in Boston (MA),Dakar (Senegal),Durham (NC), Charlottesville (VA), and Paris (France). Smith also won the district round of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. This summer she is headed to Sewanee OperaFest in Tennessee.​

Sewanee OperaFest Scenes Program. Lily worked on and performed "Amour, ranime mon courage" from Romeo et Juliette by Gounod, and the "Prenderò quel brunettino" duet from Cosi Fan Tutte by Mozart. For three weeks, Smith worked with esteemed faculty in daily voice lessons and coaching sessions with Laura Brooks Rice, Joshua Conyers, Elena Kholodova, Martin Dubé and Jordan Schreiner.

Building off of last year's success, Lily planned her second recital series. This year, she is focused on building bigger audiences in the places she performed last year, and expanding her horizons in new places. The 2025 recital series will feature recitals in five cities. Inspired by her passion for performing, and her love for event planning, Lily created a yearly recital series. Each year, Lily takes on the challenge of organizing concerts in various parts of the world. She handles each aspect of the process on her own, from the search and rental of venues, marketing of the event, ticket sales, hiring pianists, creating recital programs, and performing. Biography

Lily Smith

Lily Smith is a 27-year-old French-American soprano. Born in Paris, France, she later moved to the United States and now resides in Boston, MA. Highlights of 2025 include being a finalist in the Mildred Miller International Competition and winning the North Dakota District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. This summer, she spent three weeks at Sewanee OperaFest, performing in the scenes program as Juliette in Roméo et Juliette (“Amour ranime mon courage”) and Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte (“Prenderò”). She also presented solo recitals throughout the year in Boston (MA), Dakar (Senegal), Durham (NC), Charlottesville (VA), and Paris (France).

Since finishing her Master’s of Music degree at the USC Thornton of Music in 2022, Smith has taken on a great variety of roles in both the contemporary and the standard repertoire. She performed the title role of Svetlana in the world premiere of All The Truths We Cannot See, in Helsinki, Finland. Other roles include Laetitia in the Old Maid and the Thief, Cendrillon in Massenet's Cendrillon, Madam Mathilde in On Gold Mountain, and more.
