Tatiana Mills is a New York City based soprano. She is a recent recipient of a Master's Degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she was under the tutelage of Michelle DeYoung. Her previous education includes the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music where she studied with Vladimir Chernov, and the École Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot diploma program in Paris.

In addition to her schooling, Tatiana Mills has participated in summer programs such as the International Vocal Arts Institute (IVAI) and the International Vocal Artists Academy of Payerbach (IVAAP), where she performed both solo repertoire and various staged scenes from the operatic repertoire. Ms. Mills was also one of four Colburn Fellows at SongFest in 2022, where she gave multiple concerts. She has worked with notable directors Bartlett Sher, Keturah Stickann, James Darrah, Peter Kazaras, Karl Absenger, and Jose Maria Condemi, and has benefited from masterclasses with Michelle DeYoung, Graham Johnson, Kayo Iwama, Anya Fidelia, Vladimir Chernov, and Roderick Dixon.

Ms. Mills is also a recipient of numerous awards including the Kuebler and Evans Merit Award awarded by the National Society of Arts and Letters, a First Prize awarded by the London Classical Music Competition, a 2ème Prix awarded by the ArtimA Association's Nouvelles Étoiles Competition (7ème édition), a 2° Premio awarded by the Città di Massa XII° Concorso Internazionale per Giovani Musicisti, and a 3ème Prix awarded by the Association Les Musicales du Centre's France Music Competition (4ème édition).

Ms. Mills has appeared in multiple new works such as IU Opera and Ballet Theater's world premiere of Mason Bates's The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay (2024), Lost Childhood (2019) by Janice Hamer, Juana (2019) by Carla Lucero, and Nicky Sohn's one act opera, The Emperor's New Clothes (2017). In 2020, she debuted two art songs set to her own original poetry by contemporary composer Nate Sassoon in a recital titled "Oh, to Yearn."

In addition to her appearances in multiple contemporary works, Ms. Mills has recording experience as a soloist on the soundtrack for the 2018 Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin Honorary Mention Film, Dressage, and on the soundtrack for independent film When There Was a Tree. In 2018, she also took part in debuting composer Richard Danielpour’s Grammy-Winning oratorio, The Passion of Yeshua, in Los Angeles as a member of the UCLA Chamber Singers.

Tatiana Mills has most recently appeared as Miss Jessel in IU Opera and Ballet Theater's production of The Turn of the Screw. Other recent stage credits include the role of the Dew Fairy in Chicago Summer Opera's production of Hänsel und Gretel, and Olga in IU Opera and Ballet Theater's production of The Merry Widow. She made her stage debut as Barbarina in Opera UCLA's production of Le Nozze di Figaro, and has previously covered the role of Énone in Opera UCLA's La Descente d'Orphee aux Enfers. Partial roles include Gilda from Rigoletto, and Susanna from Le Nozze di Figaro with IVAAP.

Ms. Mills's love of opera began at an early age; she joined the Metropolitan Opera Children's Chorus at six years old, where she would then work under professional contract for the next 10 years in over 250 performances alongside some of the opera world's best known names. She is fluent in English and Russian, speaks conversational French, German and Italian, and enjoys writing poetry, drawing, and salsa dancing in her free time.
