Originally drawn to singing by the simplicity and sincerity of Scottish and American folk music, mezzo-soprano AddieRose Brown now imbues operatic and concert stages with the same heartfelt authenticity and creative spirit. Praised for her “velvety mezzo” (Wall Street Journal) with a “warm and brilliant sound, dripping with pathos” (Observer) and her riveting sauciness and “well-formed high range” (Boston Musical Intelligencer), AddieRose has brought her full range of voice and character to recent seasons. 2025-26 sees AddieRose’s mainstage debut with Opera on the James as Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, her second solo program for the Hudson Valley Singers’ annual salon concert, and appearances as Belinda in Dido & Aeneas at Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, and in Saratoga Springs. Other season details soon to be announced!
AddieRose’s 24/25 season began with a summer as a Resident Artist at Teatro Nuovo, covering Romeo in Bellini’s I Capuleti ed I Montecchi, and singing in the ensemble for the modern premiere of Carolina Uccelli’s Anna di Resburgo, as well as singing in pre-show serenade performances in Montclair and Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater. The season continued with an exciting string of engagements including a company debut with Cambridge Chamber Ensemble where she portrayed The Spy in Menotti’s rarely performed opera Labyrinth, a new opera workshop with Experiments in Opera, and appearances in Madison Avenue Baptist’s new Emerging Artist Series as Olga in highlights from Eugene Onegin, and as alto soloist in Mozart’s Coronation Mass. She also joined the Hudson Valley Singers as the mezzo soloist in John Corigliano’s darkly lyrical Fern Hill, returned to the New Philharmonic for her role debut as Giannetta in L’elisir d’amore, and joined the Young Artist roster of Opera on the James as the Usher in Alec Wilder’s quirky Cinderella story The Opening, and as Hansel in a touring production of Hansel and Gretel. AddieRose closed out the season with another company and role debut as Siebel in Heartbeat Opera’s brand new rendition of Gounod’s Faust, and as a soloist in The Opera Next Door’s summer stoop concerts.
