Alla Salakhova is a mezzo-soprano currently pursuing a master’s degree with the University of Maryland's Maryland Opera Studio. Recent credits with MOS include Fisherman in The Fishwife (world premier), Frau Reich cover in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, and scenes from Ariadne auf Naxos (The Composer) and Florencia en el Amazonas (Paula). Next season, she will perform Ramiro in La finta giardiniera and Brittomara in If I Were You.
This summer, she performed opera scenes with the BROTTOPERA and makes her role debut as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro with Soo Opera. Select credits include Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette), The Secretary (The Consul), Orphée (Orphée aux enfers), Petermann (Monsieur Choufleuri), Mrs. Northwind (The Enchanted Pig, Canadian premier), and Drusilla (L'incoronazione di Poppea) for which she was praised for possessing "the presence of a seasoned performer” (Opera Canada).
Salakhova is a 2024 Maryland District Winner of The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, the student winner of Edmonton Opera's inaugural Rumbold Vocal Prize, and was a finalist in the Prizewinners Concert competition at Mozarteum Salzburg. An avid concert performer, she sang Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen as the winner of U of A’s 2023-24 Concerto Competition and was a 2024 Toronto Summer Music Festival Art of Song Fellow.
