Soprano Brenna Markey is rapidly gaining acclaim for her captivating voice and dramatic artistry, performing a diverse repertoire in both opera and concert. Praised for her “expressive range” (Herald-Tribune), she made her Sarasota Opera debut in 2022 as Elisetta in Il Matrimonio Segreto. In 2024, she was a guest artist for Opera Philadelphia’s lecture series, performing selections from Madama Butterfly, and made her Weill Hall debut with excerpts from Turandot. She will make her role debut as Pamina in Mozart's The Magic Flute in collaboration with the New Jersey Symphony and Undead Arts Production as well as make her company debut with The Princeton Festival as Kate Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly. In 2025, Brenna made her debut with Opera Southwest and the New Mexico Symphonic Chorus as the soprano soloist in the Verdi Requiem and took on the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera Magnifico. A distinguished competitor, Brenna is a First Place Winner in the Century Opera and Medici International Competitions, Finalist in the Rochester International and Opera at Florham Competitions, and a semifinalist in the prestigious Elizabeth Connell International Competition. She has also earned recognition in the McCammon, Shreveport, and D’Angelo Competitions.
