Soprano, Courtney Caston, is a passionate performer and storyteller from Atlanta, GA who is making a name for herself in the opera world.
With her first introduction to opera being in elementary school, Courtney has been singing in opera productions since the 6th grade.
For the 2025-2026 season, Courtney will be featured in numerous exciting concerts and productions. In August, Caston will debut as a soprano soloist for Boulder Opera's annual Opera in the Park concert. In September, she will be curating and performing a solo recital which exclusively features the works of Black composers with Central City Opera in celebration of Clara Brown Day. In November, Caston will be making a role debut as Aishah McNair in Aleksandra Vrebalov's The Knock with Opera 2030. Finally, she will once again be joining the Opera Colorado chorus for their production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly in May 2026.
In 2024, Courtney joined Central City Opera as a Touring and Teaching Artist, performing around the state of Colorado. Caston has performed with opera companies Central City Opera, Opera Colorado, Loveland Opera Theatre, Boulder Opera and has performed internationally in Germany with the professional company, Opera Classica Europa.
Courtney’s full roles include High Priestess in Aida, Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Agathe in Der Freischütz, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Countess Almaviva in The Marriage of Figaro, Giunone in La Calisto (Cavalli), and La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi. Partial roles include Clara Brown in Gabriel’s Daughter (Mollicone), the title role in Aida, Mimì in La Bohème, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, and Alice Ford in Falstaff.
Courtney has also participated in reputable competitions such as the Mary E. Singletary Vocal Arts Competition for Emerging Artists, where she won 4th place in 2021 and 2023, and the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition where she placed in the top 10 in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
In May 2024, Courtney was a featured soloist with the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra where she sang “Beim Schlafengehen” from Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs. She has also sung Act II of Aida in concert as the title role with the Denver Young Artists Orchestra.
Caston holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Simpson College (2017) where she studied with Matthew Lau and a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Northern Colorado (2019) where she studied with Dr. Diane Bolden-Taylor and Dr. Derek Chester.
Courtney is based in Denver, CO and is currently studying with Wagnerian soprano, Heidi Melton.
