Biography

Jacob Stucki

Jacob Stucki is an LA-based tenor who has been enjoying a wide range of performances since moving to the area in 2023. With Independent Opera Co., he recently sang Hervey in Anna Bolena and is contracted to sing Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore next year. He has also performed Edwin in Trial by Jury, Camille in The Merry Widow, and Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi (Lawrence Opera Theatre, Mission Opera Co., and Landmark Opera Co., respectively). He was in school at the same time, where he also sang Monostatos (covering Tamino) in Die Zauberflöte, L’aumonier in Dialogues des Carmelites, and Prince Tirifilo in the West coast premier of Cenicienta…! by Marta Lambertini. 

As a soloist, Jacob has recently debuted Händel’s Messiah and Bruckner’s Te Deum with the Santa Clarita Master Chorale, Bach’s Magnificat with CSUN, and Mozart’s Spatzenmesse and Missa Brevis in G with Capella Musica of St. Andrew. He remains a staff singer at St. Andrew’s, as well as the First United Methodist Church of Santa Monica. He has been under the baton of renowned choral conductors such as Eric Whitacre and Martina Batič, premiered new works by the likes of Eriks Ešenvalds, and shared the stage with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in worldwide broadcasts. He was also a member of the award-winning BYU Singers and a Young Artist at Baylor’s International Choral Conducting Masterclass. 

As a student of Dr. Hugo Vera, Jacob recently received his MM in Voice/Opera from California State University, Northridge. He also earned a BM in Vocal Performance from BYU in 2022, completing his studies with Dr. Robert Brandt and Brian Stucki. Outside of classical music, he loves to play guitar, cook Italian food, and spend time in the natural beauty of California’s mountains, forests, and beaches.
