James Moorehead is a Lyric Baritone going into his junior year at Furman University, class of 2027. He is currently earning a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. He studies under Dr. Grant Knox.
James has spent the past summer (2025) working at The Ohio Light Opera as a Resident Young Artist. There, he covered the role of Billy Bigelow and was part of the ensemble of CAROUSEL, as well as played roles such as Andrew MacLaren in BRIGADOON and Lord Edgar James in BITTERSWEET. He was also an ensemble member in TIP-TOES and PATIENCE. The previous summer, he attended SongFest as a Young Artist, where he sang in a masterclass with Lucas Meachem and coached with John Musto, performing some of his works. At Furman University, he played the role of Bob in THE OLD MAID AND THE THIEF and was in the ensemble for AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS and ORPHEUS AND THE UNDERWORLD. He also sang the role of Marcello in a scene from LA BOHEME.
Outside of music, James is an avid outdoorsman. He earned his Eagle Scout in 2022 and enjoys hiking, canoeing, sailing, and even dogsledding. James is also a Religion double major at Furman University.
