Julia Janowski, mezzo soprano, is a native of Marquette, Michigan. Currently residing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Julia is a versatile artist with vibrant musicality and dynamic stage presence. A recent graduate of Boston Conservatory at Berklee, she received her Master of Music in Opera Performance in 2024 and since then has performed with the Seagle Music Festival and Pine Mountain Music Festival.
Comfortable in repertoire spanning the operatic canon, Julia has sung the role of Ruby Thewes (Cold Mountain) and in the ensembles of Brigadoon and Sweeney Todd at the Seagle Festival. With Boston Conservatory Opera Theatre, Julia sang the roles of Hermia (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) The Mezzo (Voir Dire), Alóes (L’étoile), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) and Mrs. McLean (Susannah). While at Pine Mountain Music Festival, Julia sang the roles of Carmen (Carmen)and Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier) in their touring concert series. As Julia was earning her undergraduate degree at Michigan State University, she sang the roles of Zita (Gianni Schicchi) and The Sandman (Hansel and Gretel). Julia has received additional training at the Classic Lyric Arts Festival Berkshires with renowned coach, Glenn Morton with an emphasis on French repertoire, and Italian immersion at the Centro Studi Carlo Della Giacoma in Todi, Italy.
With expertise in sacred music and oratorio, Julia produced a lecture recital of advent-themed sacred music sponsored by the #1 prayer app, Hallow Inc. Additionally, she has performed as the Alto Soloist for Missa in F Major by J.S. Bach and Mozart’s Missa Brevis in F. Julia is an experienced cantor in the Catholic liturgy and has worked in dioceses and professional choral ensembles across the US, most notably in the Boys and Schola at St. Paul’s Parish and Choir School in Cambridge, MA.
