Soprano Laura Corina Sanders, hailed for her “honeyed soprano” and “sweet, amber tone” is a native of San Francisco and newly based in Washington, DC. Her accolades include 1st place of the 2018 Lotte Lenya Competition, 1st place in the 2023 Houston Gilbert and Sullivan Society Career Grant competition, an encouragement award in the 2023 Camille Coloratura Awards, and an encouragement award in the 2019 The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition. She is an alum of multiple prestigious Young Artist Programs including Wolf Trap Opera, Central City Opera, Shreveport Opera, Charlottesville Opera, and Opera Orlando.
Laura received her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music . She has been featured in principal roles with Hawaii Opera Theatre, Opera Orlando, Charlottesville Opera, Union Avenue Opera, and Mobile Opera. She most recently appeared as Elvira in L’Italiana in Algeri at both Opera In The Heights and Anchorage Opera, and Berta in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at Central City Opera. Other notable roles include Susanna, Gilda, Zerlina, and Kao Kalia Yang/Joua Thao in the world premiere of The Song Poet at Minnesota Opera.
