(He/They) Widely recognized for his innovative programming, cultural collaborations, and commitment to engaging younger audiences in the concert hall, Linus Ip recently appointed as Music Director and Conductor of the Philadelphia Sinfonia. This past summer, he was Cover Conductor and Assistant Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute at the John F. Kennedy Center, where he led rehearsals, educational activities, and the conducting apprentice program.

Assistant Conductor & leading the Conducting apprentice program National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute (NSO SMI) John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C. Summer 2025 Assisted NSO musicians and administrative staff in coordinating and leading rehearsals, side-by-side performances, and educational initiatives for high school and collegiate-level participants. Conducted rehearsals and led performances, providing musical leadership in orchestral and sectional settings. Instructed student conductors in fundamentals of orchestral conducting, gesture, score study, and rehearsal technique; designed and facilitated conducting sessions for participants with varying levels of experience. Developed inclusive pedagogical strategies to provide podium time for all students, fostering confidence and leadership skills among young musicians. Collaborated closely with NSO mentors, guest artists, and faculty to uphold the educational mission of the SMI and support its performance programming.
