Tenor Mason Montuoro has been praised for his "effortless high notes and sweet lyrical sound." This past season, Mason performed as Gerald in Lakmé with Chicago Summer Opera and portrayed Tamino in Die Zauberflöte as an Alumni guest Artist with Luther College.
Previously, Mason has been a Smith Young artist for the 2019 & 2023 seasons. He is an active recitalist & musician, having worked with the Houston Grand Opera, Landlocked Opera, California State University, Northridge, North Park University, Grant Park Music Festival Chorus, Chicago Summer opera, & Chicago Choral Artists.
Mason was the recipient of an Encouragement Award at the 2020 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions Iowa District. He was also a finalist in the 2019 Hal Leonard National Voice Competition.
Mason is a graduate of the University of Iowa and Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. During his studies, he performed as Laurie in Little Women, Ferrando in Così fan tutte, Marco in The Gondoliers, and sang in the Nordic Choir.
