Biography

Maya Goell

Maya Goell is a soprano born, raised, and based in California.  She began her training at the San Francisco School of the Arts where she was named a California Art Scholar and National Youngarts Winner.  She went on to earn a Bachelors at the University of British Columbia and a Masters at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.  Highlights of her career include singing La Feau in Ravel’s L'enfant et les Sortilèges, Meg March in Jason Howland’s Little Women, Maria Bertram in Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park, La Contessa di Folleville in Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Reims, and Yvette in Mieczysław Weinberg’s Pasażerka.

As a multidisciplinary artist who believes in live performance as the bridge between social theory and praxis to evolve the culture we live in, Ms. Goell has worked with leading contemporary composers such as Mason Bates, Ricky Ian Gordan, Ben Moore, and Jodi Goble.  She also works with the Bay Area Arts Alliance’s Opus Project to frequently perform the works of emerging composers in the Bay Area.
