Biography

REGAN BISCH

American soprano Regan Bisch has established herself as a versatile performer in repertoire ranging from Mozart to Tchaikovsky. Hailed for her “beautiful high notes” and “idiomatic Russian”,  Ms Bisch has a special proclivity for slavic repertoire, having sung the title role of Iolanta for Opera Slavica, along with the roles of Jano/Pastuchyna (Jenufa), Gemma (Maddalena), and scenes of Rusalka (Rusalka). Ms Bisch is also at home in concert and song repertoire, having performed concerts of Dohnanyi songs and American repertoire with the International Vocal Arts Institute, and having appeared as a soloist at the Toys R Us Children’s Fund Gala in New York City with Martin Short. An alumna of Mannes College and the North Carolina School of the Arts, other roles and scenes performed include Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Apolonia (La Canterina), and before becoming a soprano she sang roles as a mezzo-soprano including Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Idamante (Idomeneo), Ramiro (La finta giardiniera), and Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro). In 2020 Ms. Bisch was asked to perform in the world premiere of the opera Shadowlight, composed by Larry Delinger for Marble City Opera, in which she originated the roles of Voice 1/Nurse/Mary Painter/Delia. Ms. Bisch recently made debuts with Piedmont Opera singing the role of La Ciesca in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi and with The North Carolina Master Chorale singing the soprano solo in Dvorak’s Requiem which John W. Lambert of CVNC described as "profoundly moving” and wrote that Ms. Bisch “soared sweetly, often elegantly”. Ms. Bisch was awarded scholarships for her studies at Mannes College of Music and UNCSA and won first place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing mid-atlantic region competition. Ms. Bisch is currently based in North Carolina.
