Biography

Sadie Spivey

Based in NYC, Sadie Spivey has been recognized for her diverse performance abilities as a vocal artist and as an actor. Whether it is creating new work or giving a unique voice to established repertoire, Sadie believes that stories help us feel seen and heard, fulfilling our innate desire to connect. Collaboration and storytelling are at the forefront of her artistry.

This summer, Sadie was a Festival Artist with Opera Saratoga, performing in Christopher Cerrone’s In a Grove, Emma O’Halloran’s A Mass for Women in Bathrooms, and Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne.

Last season, she staged and performed Francis Poulenc's monodrama La voix humaine in Kilbourn Hall at the Eastman School of Music and at Penn State with collaborative pianist Maeve Berry. Sadie co-created, performed and directed AWAKENING, a staged, collaborative song recital inspired by the tradition of protest music. The show was presented at the cell theatre in Chelsea as a part of City Lyric Opera's artist-led season.

Equally at home in opera and musical theatre, Sadie performed with The Ohio Light Opera for four seasons, most recently singing Guenevere in Camelot and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance
