Born in Virginia and raised in Rye, NY, Samantha Britt played trombone and piano for many years before discovering that her voice was her true primary instrument. She earned her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and her MM Manhattan School of Music. She lived in Manhattan until 2017, when she moved to Berlin, Germany. Samantha Britt was named Winner of The International Singing Competition Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and the Winner of the American Prize in Vocal Performance (opera). Samantha won the Boston District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Opera Singers Initiative Young Emerging Artist award, and she was a multi-year Career Bridges Grantee. Samantha sang Queen of the Night/Königin der Nacht with the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker at Tonhalle Düsseldorf in collaboration with Puppen Philharmonie Berlin. Last year Samantha made her Deutsche Oper Berlin soloist debut in Death in Venice, by Benjamin Britten and her Berlin Staatsoper Unter den Linden soloist debut in Babylon by Jörg Widmann. Prior to that, she performed in the premiere of Herakleitos by Cyrus Meurant, the title role in Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate with Opera Incognita in Bavaria, where she has also sung the roles of Lucy in Gian Carlo Menotti's The Telephone and Nella in Gianni Schicchi. Samantha performed Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro with San Antonio Opera, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Josephine in in H.M.S. Pinafore and Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof. Current projects include: In Appetizing Portions, a surrealistic song-cycle by Fritz Myers for soprano, violin, and electric guitar.
