Biography

Sarah Caulfield

Canadian soprano Sarah Caulfield has been lauded by Opera Canada as “a singer to watch [...] her voice was brilliant and full, floating high notes effortlessly, with beautiful coloratura.” A 2023 M.Mus graduate from the University of British Columbia, her credits include the title role of Rusalka, Frau Fluth (Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni,) Corinna (Il viaggio a Reims), Giulietta (Les contes d’Hoffmann), Casilda (The Gondoliers), Mrs. Norris (Mansfield Park,) and Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte). In 2025, she attended the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance as a resident artist, and appeared in The Handmaid's Tale at the Banff Centre. She looks forward to joining Good Mess Theatre as Suzy in La Rondine at the Edmonton Fringe Festival, and the Vancouver Island Symphony for a program of Italian arias in November.

On the concert stage, Sarah has performed as a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (Traditional Christmas concert tour,) Richmond Orchestra (Fauré Requiem,) Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra (Handel Dixit Dominus,) and has appeared at Bard on the Beach, Bach on the Rock, and with the UBC Early Music Ensemble. Other highlights include performances of Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen and selections by Jack Behrens and Dominick Argento within the trio Erdenlied. Composer collaborations include the premiere of Dr. Matthew-John Knights’ “The Soundscape (1),” featuring text commissioned from the late R. Murray Schafer, and performing Holly Winter’s Song of Hypatia. Sarah is the grateful recipient of a 2025 Winspear Fund grant, a 2024 Early Music Vancouver Scholarship, and awards from the UBC Faculty of Music.
