Spencer Greene
Tenor Spencer Greene is a graduate of Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music. A district winner of the 2024 Laffont Competition, Greene has been praised by critics for his “flexible, expressive voice” and “adroit singing.” His roles have included the Tanzmeister in Ariadne auf Naxos, Danilo in Die Lustige Witwe, and Sid in Albert Herring. He is a chorus member with Florentine Opera, Music of the Baroque, and the Grant Park Music Festival.

Spencer Greene

Chicago-based singer Spencer Greene is a dynamic and expressive performer. A recent MM graduate of Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, he is quickly establishing himself in the tenor repertoire after initial training as a baritone.

He has sung a wide range of roles, including: Tanzmeister/Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos, Danilo in Die Lustige Witwe, Sid in Albert Herring, the title role in Gianni Schicchi, Vater in Hansel und Gretel, Max in Le Chalet, the Emperor in Der Kaiser von Atlantis, Belcore in L’Elisir d’Amore, The Pilot in The Little Prince, Nick Bottom in The Fairy Queen, and Cadmus in Semele. 

Upcoming engagements include Figaro in The Barber of Seville with Opera Together’s touring production, in affiliation with the San Francisco Opera Guild, and a cover of Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus with Cedar Rapids Opera, where he will also participate in the Smith Young Artist Program. 

Spencer’s awards include a district win in the 2024 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and a first-place finish at the 2020 California Regional NATS. Critics have praised his “flexible, expressive voice” and physicality on stage.

Outside of performance, Spencer teaches voice privately and works as an English language instructor. His current focus is on refining his tenor technique and exploring new repertoire.
