Svetlana Kirpu, a 26-year-old lyric soprano from Russia, has built a diverse career as a soloist and ensemble artist, with performances spanning opera, concert repertoire, and choral works.
She began her professional training at the College of Arts in Naberezhnye Chelny, graduating in 2019 with a specialization in vocal performance and music theory. She continued her studies at the Krasnodar State Institute of Culture, earning her Bachelor’s degree with honors in 2023. During her academic years, she gained extensive stage experience in both operatic and concert settings, establishing herself as a promising young artist. She is also a recipient of the prestigious Muslim Magomayev Award in Russia, recognizing her outstanding vocal artistry and musical achievements.
Her operatic repertoire includes Mimi in La Bohème, Tatiana in Eugene Onegin, Iolanta in Iolanta, and Marguerite in Faust. She has also appeared as a soloist in large-scale concert works, such as Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Fauré’s Requiem, and Rachmaninoff’s sacred choral music. In addition, she has performed with the Ponomarenko Philharmonic as a soloist and was a member of a professional church choir, where she explored sacred repertoire.
After relocating to the United States, Svetlana continued her artistic journey, performing with the Hawaii Opera Theatre in the chorus of Bizet’s Carmen and with the Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado. Most recently, she appeared as Laura in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, showcasing her artistry and deep connection to the Russian operatic tradition.
Alongside her stage career, Svetlana is an experienced voice teacher with more than seven years of teaching experience. She currently teaches voice and piano at the Center for Musical Arts in Sacramento, where she works with both children and adults, fostering a new generation of musicians through her individualized approach to vocal technique and interpretation.
Svetlana is a laureate of international competitions and continues to develop her repertoire and artistry, dedicated to bringing both Russian and international classical music traditions to audiences worldwide.
