Vancouver Opera Chorus Auditions
Vancouver Opera is pleased to announce auditions for the Vancouver Opera Chorus positions for the upcoming season. Productions for the 25/26 Season include:
Rigoletto

Rehearsals: September 29 – October 23, 2025
Performances: October 25, 30 & November 2 (matinee)
Cosi fan tutte
Conducted by: Leslie Dala
Directed by: Rob Herriot
Rehearsals: January 12 – February 5, 2026
Performances: February 7, 12 & 15 (matinee)
La bohème
Conducted by: Jonathan Darlington
Directed by: Brenna Corner
Rehearsals: March 30 – April 23, 2026
Performances: April 25, 26 (matinee), 30, May 2 & 3 (matinee)
To be considered for an audition, diplomas/degrees are not required, but a minimum of university-level or equivalent in voice and music training, and stage experience, is expected.
At this time, Vancouver Opera is not able to provide accommodation/travel for Chorus members.
Audition Details:
Dates: Auditions will be held by invitation only on the following dates:
Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 10AM to 5PM
Wednesday, May 7, 2025, from 10AM to 5PM
Location: The O'Brian Centre for Vancouver Opera
Application Process:
Interested applicants should submit the following materials via the online submission form here.
Personal Information: Full name, voice type, CAEA status, email address, and mobile number.
Availability: Indicate availability for upcoming production dates.
Audition Preference: Indicate preferences for audition session dates from the options provided above.
Audition Repertoire:
Three contrasting opera arias in at least three different languages (French, German, Italian, or English; however, other languages are acceptable). These are to be performed from memory in their original language.
Each aria must be no longer than 5 minutes in length.
Resume with Headshot: A current one-page resume with a recent photograph or headshot.
Submission Deadline:
All application materials must be submitted by April 24, 2025.
Additional Information:
A pianist will be provided. Applicants may also bring their own pianist at their own expense.
Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents. Those who do not possess either a Canadian passport or permanent resident card are not eligible.
Equity artists will be given priority in auditions.
