Opportunities

Annapolis Opera invites singers to submit their materials for chorus auditions for the upcoming 2025 – 2026 season. In an effort to ensure the breadth of diversity within our community is reflected within our organization, we encourage singers from all backgrounds to apply who are eligible to do so. All voice types are welcome to apply, and low voices (tenor/baritone) are especially encouraged to do so.

Singers who were part of the Annapolis Opera chorus during the 2024 – 2025 season do not need to re-apply.

Mozart’s DON GIOVANNI (in Italian)

Rehearsals begin: Mid-late September 2025

Tech rehearsals: Saturday, October 25 – Wednesday, October 29, 2025

Performances: Friday, October 31, 2025 at 7:30 PM & Sunday, November 2, 2025 & 3 PM

Humperdinck’s HANSEL AND GRETEL (in English; soprano/mezzo chorus only)

Rehearsals begin: Mid-late February 2026

Tech rehearsals: Saturday, March 7 – Wednesday, March 11, 2026

Performances: Friday, March 13, 2026 at 7:30 PM & Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 3 PM, with the possibility of a family matinee on Saturday, March 14, 2026.

Chorus members who are cast will receive a fee of $650.00 per production.

Audition applications will be accepted through Monday, April 7, 2025 at 11:59 PM (EST). Applicants will be notified of their audition status no later than Tuesday, April 22, 2025. After applications are reviewed, selected applicants will be invited to audition by appointment on Saturday, May 3, 2025 in Annapolis, MD.

Please carefully read the following requirements before submitting an application.

- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of the audition.
- Applicants must commit to the performance and rehearsal dates (listed above).
- Applicants will present two works, one of which must be in English; any opera aria, operetta piece, or song of contrasting style and tempo.
- An accompanist will be provided. Please bring all music in the correct key. Pre-recorded accompaniment is not permitted.
