Opportunities

Program Information:
The Dallas Opera announces an OPEN AUDITION for 5 vacancies within the regular chorus starting in the 2025/2026 season. Applicants will also be considered for the Auxiliary Chorus, Solo Bit Roles, and Chorus Bit Roles.

Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Excellent sight-reading ability – music and languages.
- Ability to memorize music quickly.
- Experience in another professional opera or symphony chorus and/or strong academic or other nonprofessional experience.
- Stage experience or significant stage training.
- Availability to work a complex & rigorous rehearsal and performance schedule.
- Ability to take and accept musical and stage direction.
- Ability to work in a theatrical environment, including but not limited to the ability to perform in a variety of stage conditions including flat and raked stages, at stage level and on elevated platforms.

You need not be a union member to audition.

Audition Location and Date:
Dallas, TX USA: Fri 2nd May 2025 - Sat 3rd May 2025
Auditions will be held at the Karayanis Rehearsal Production Center (4301 S. Fitzhugh Ave) on:

May 2, 2025 – 5:30pm-9:30pm
May 3, 2025 – 9:00am-6:00pm

Audition Requirements:
1. One Aria in Italian, German, or French (preferred inclusive with recitativo).
2. OPTIONAL: One additional aria or art song in English may be offered if you feel it better shows your voice to your advantage.
3. Sight reading will be requested.

Singers are required to bring two copies their own sheet music in the correct key. A copy will be given to the pianist and the audition panel. TDO will provide a pianist.

September 2025-October 26, 2025
5 Performances: October 17, 19(m), 22, 25, 26 (m), 2025

Show B
October 2025- November 15, 2025
4 Performances: November 7,9(m), 12,15, 2025

Show D
January 2026 – March 7, 2026
4 Performances: February 27, March 1(m), 4, 7, 2026

Compensation:
Payment is provided
The Dallas Opera Chorus is a member of AGMA, and compensation will align with TDO’s collective bargaining agreement. The current 2024/2025 Regular Chorus Compensation is $26.37 hourly and $237.16 per performance.
