Biography

Tara Lake

Tara Lake is a December 2024 graduate of the Master of Music in Vocal Performance program at West Chester University. She is an alumna of the New York University Classical Voice Intensive, where her teacher was Harolyn Blackwell, and the Juilliard School Evening Division Vocal Performance Seminar, where she sang the role of La Suora Zelatrice in scenes from Sour Angelica. Tara has been a member of the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music Community Women’s Choir, the Holiday Pops Chorus of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Classical Roots Choir of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and the Wendell P. Whalum Community Chorus (Morehouse College). As a student in the West Chester University Wells School of Music, Tara was a Vocal Honors Recital performer in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Ms. Lake performed in Masterclasses conducted by Dr. Stephen Lancaster (Notre Dame University) Dr. Everett McCorvey (University of Kentucky, American Spiritual Ensemble), and Prof. Lorna MacDonald (University of Toronto). In 2023, she was a West Chester University Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition Finalist. The same year, Tara served as Production Assistant and Stage Manager for the West Chester University Opera Theatre production of Beauty and the Beast and authored a production educator’s guide for teachers in greater Philadelphia. Tara has remained active in the world of theatre and was awarded the Margaret W. Wong Hope Award for her performance of I Know It Was the Blood: The Totally True Adventures of Newfangled Black Woman at the 2023 Borderlight Fringe Festival in Cleveland, OH. Last year, she joined the 2024 production of Ruth and the Green Book in the role of Ruth at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, GA. For two seasons, (2022-2024), Ms. Lake served as Staff Soprano and Soloist at the Episcopal Church of the Advent, Kennett Square. Tara is a student of Dr. Nicholas Provenzale.
