Biography

Andres Asencio

He sang as a soloist in multiple theatres in Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Additionally, he had participated in masterclasses with Lucas Meachem, Javier Camarena, Anthony Manoli, and Craig Rutenberg, among other renowned singers and vocal coaches.

In 2019, he made his professional debut as Fiorello in Peru. In Argentina, he performed Escamillo (Carmen) and Mr. Gobineau (The Medium) in 2021. Also, he starred in the world premiere of "En terapia plástica" in the Festival de Opera Villera.

He sang Gianni Schicchi in Morelia (Mexico), Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Lima and Santiago de Chile, and Tosca in Jerusalem, Israel. He was also a fellow artist at the Opernfest Prague Gala in 2022 and 2023 in the Czech Republic and the Vincerò Academy Gala at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall.

After that, he sang Barone Douphol (La Traviata) at Gran Teatro Nacional (Peru) and debuted as Conte di Almaviva (Le Nozze di Figaro) at the Cultural Festival of Mazatlán (Mexico).

In 2024, he made his role debut in the title role of Gianni Schicchi with Prolirica de Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia. Then, he was Nardo (La Finta Giardiniera) and had the leading role in two opera world premieres: “Disuasion” by Michael Magán and “Yacumama” by Mark Contreras, both renowned Peruvian composers. He received multiple positive reviews for his portrayal of these villains.

This year, he sang Guglielmo (Così fan tutte), Marchese (La Traviata), and Winterreise in Lima and Ping (Turandot) in Medellín, Colombia. Also, he starred in the world premiere of “La Ópera de los Monstruos” by Rodrigo Cadet.

Currently, he is the baritone of the Opera Studio of Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
