Blair Cagney, a rising young soprano and recipient of the prestigious Metropolitan Opera National Council Encouragement Award, is earning acclaim for her rich, well-centered tone and “superb coloratura.” Celebrated for her versatility and vibrant stage presence, Ms. Cagney continues to distinguish herself across both classical and contemporary repertoire.
In the 2024–2025 season, she made a noteworthy role and company debut as Nedda in Pagliacci with New Rochelle Opera and performed Annina in La Traviata as part of the Snug Harbor PASS Artist Residency. Her concert appearances included A Night at the Opera at Green Room 42 and the creation, production, and performance of Very Merry with Li’l Blairey and Friends, a holiday benefit concert in support of the Bowery Mission. Previously, she joined Tulsa Opera, performing Rapunzel and covering Cinderella in Into the Woods.
Additional highlights include her portrayal of the title role in Tobias Picker’s Emmeline and Susanna in I Due Figaro at Manhattan School of Music, Micaëla in Carmen with the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, and covering Leïla in Les Pêcheurs de Perles with MSM Opera Theatre. Prior to the pandemic, she was selected to perform in the Douglas Moore Songbook concert, presented by the National Opera Association, the Douglas Moore Foundation for American Opera, and Opera Index.
Ms. Cagney has worked under the baton of distinguished conductors including George Manahan, Brad Moore, Stefano Sarzani, and Ubaldo Fabbri. She has appeared on stages across the United States and internationally in France, Italy, and Germany.
