Tulsa Opera, created in 1948, excels at producing bold, brave, and brilliant, fresh productions of opera classics. We accomplish this by identifying excellent young singers, then pairing them with conductors and stage directors who can improve their artistic talents.
Step into a candlelit world where voices rise from the flickering shadows and haunting melodies stir something deep inside your soul. Inspired by Schubert’s chilling masterpieces like “Der Doppelgänger” and “Erlkönig,” Music from the Shadowsexplores the eerie, poetic, and otherworldly through an intimate classical vocal music experience. Dare to enter a space where beauty dances with disquiet and each song entices you further into the shadows.

At last he is free to fall in love — which he promptly does — and fulfill his duty, which is to destroy pirates. There’s just one catch! Gilbert and Sullivan’s hilarious, swashbuckling romance is a comedy classic bursting with toe-tapping tunes from “I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major General” to “I Am a Pirate King,” from “Poor Wand’ring One” to “O, Is There Not One Maiden Breast?”.
This sparkling cast features star of major operatic and Broadway stages Meghan Picerno as Mabel; Tulsa Youth Opera and Filstrup Resident Artist alum Chris Mosz as Frederic; Jason Zacher, recently featured at our April 2025 President’s Council Dinner Concert, as the dashing Pirate King; and Metropolitan opera mezzo-soprano Tesia Kwarteng as Ruth.
