Christen May Mayer, Lyric Soprano – Biography
Lyric soprano Christen May Mayer is a passionate and versatile artist known for her expressive vocal warmth, and grounded dramatic presence. Originally from Texas and Florida, Christen now resides in Oklahoma City. Having earned her Master of Music in Opera Performance from Oklahoma City University (2024) she has since performed Sieglinde (Die Walküre) with Dramatic Voices Midwest, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) with Opera DeMetro, Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia) with First Coast Opera, and Clotilde (Norma) with New Jersey Opera Theater.
Christen is also a committed advocate for arts outreach. She has served as an educational artist with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma and Painted Sky Opera, presenting hundreds of interactive performances in schools, community centers, and public venues across the state to engage new audiences in opera and musical theatre. In the upcoming season, Christen looks forward to singing and covering roles including Monica (The Medium) with Bold City Opera, Leonore (Fidelio) with Sotto Voce, and Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte) with Opera Arlington, alongside concert and chorus work throughout the region.
