Yuhao Zhang is a 26-year-old bass-baritone from China. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Vocal and Opera Performance from the Central Conservatory of Music and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the New England Conservatory of Music. He has a solid, resonant tone and a natural stage presence, and has performed in both domestic and international venues.
He has been invited to perform at the Japan New Year’s Concert at the Bunkyō Civic Hall in Tokyo, organized by the Tokyo University of the Arts, and at the “Beijing Day” celebration during the Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition. He also took part in a cultural exchange in Italy, where he appeared in the Italian Opera Aria Night concert in Assisi.
In opera, Zhang has sought to explore a variety of styles and characters. His roles include Captain in Jiang Jie with the China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater, Melisso in Alcinawith Chicago Summer Opera, and Cover for Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola with the Central Conservatory of Music. His opera scene work includes Don Giovanni and Leporello in Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Marcello in La Bohème, and Sharpless in Madama Butterfly. He is the First Prize winner of the Macao International Vocal Competition.
After graduating from the Central Conservatory of Music, Zhang took a break from formal vocal studies between 2022 and 2024 due to personal reasons. He returned to his studies in 2024, enrolling in the Master’s program at the New England Conservatory. In 2025, he participated in Classic Lyric Arts and Chicago Summer Opera, receiving positive feedback from audiences.
He has studied under Bradley Williams, Chair of the Vocal Arts Department at NEC, and now studying under Ricardo Lugo at NEC.
